The Aude Shantymen - Association No. W1 12001241

 The Aude Shantymen

is an English speaking, all-male singing group, based in the Aude region of south-west France.

We sing sea shanties, a word that comes from the French word 'chanter', meaning, 'to sing'.

Songs of the sea, sailor's songs, songs that would traditionally have been sung on board ship - or perhaps in taverns, when the sailors had returned from a trip.

Mutineer, Greybeard, Flogger,

Lofty, Gypsy Moth, Black Bart,

Linksy, Drake, Strummer (kneeling)

We meet up as a crew on a weekly basis, usually to rehearse songs for our next event.

Each year we support our friends of Mirepoix Folk and Shanty, with a standalone concert and perhaps with the Mirepoix Apple Festival.

Otherwise, we accept invitations to perform at different events in the area, as they are conceived: typically for Cancer Support France, or in support of SNSM.
